Frequently Asked Questions Q. Can I customize WebConference LiveHelp to tailor to my company's needs? A. Yes! WebConference was designed with customization in mind, without requiring you to even touch the source code. Whether you're looking to change just a few pieces of HTML, or overhaul your entire environment, WebConference LiveHelp! provides the flexibility to change the presentation, behavior, and functionality to meet your company's needs using its customization interfaces. By taking advantage of our customizable templates, configuration tweaks, and extensible plug-in API, you can configure WebConference LiveHelp! to do just about anything. And more importantly, using the customization interfaces means you will be able to upgrade even after you customize. While our software is very customizable, the core components can be easily switched out to provide bug fixes and feature enhancements without touching your customization work. Q. Can we use WebConference LiveHelp! under multiple domains? A. Yes! You can run under multiple domains, and under the enterprise build (the default) you can even set up completely autonomous chat systems to provide ASP-type services. Q. Can we integrate with other online systems? A. Yes! WebConference LiveHelp! includes an extensible plug-in API allowing you to write your own C code to add functionality to the software. Integrate with online databases, CRM systems, and any other applications you need to bring in. If our API doesn't have the hooks you need, the software is open-source and therefore you can hard-code your own support for extensions (send us some code if you make a cool addition!). Q. Can I run WebConference LiveHelp! with a virtual web host? A. Yes! WebConference LiveHelp! runs with many popular web hosting companies today. Check with yours before trying to install it. Web hosting companies must provide support for shell access, cron jobs, and persistent processes. Q. Is LiveHelp ADA or 508 Compliant? Will it work with Screenreaders? A. We have tested WebConference LiveHelp with several popular screen readers such as JAWS and Window-Eyes and have had successful results with all of them. Further more, visual alerts for hearing impaired operators (or operators without speakers) are made possible having made our software compatible with Microsoft Windows' SoundSentry feature, available in the 'Accessibility Options' control panel. Since ADA compliance involves formatting, some of its success is up to the webmaster. For example, providing a text link to chat and restraining from using heavy graphics while customizing the look and feel of the chat environemnt. Back to Main Page |
